WE ASK EVERYONE.

About Indiana SBIRT

Indiana SBIRT is a five-year initiative funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to integrate SBIRT as a routine standard of care at community health centers (CHCs), community mental health centers (CMHCs), and rural health centers (RHCs) throughout the state of Indiana.

Project goals:

  1. Develop an effective means of integrating SBIRT into clinical practice that can be adopted by all CHCs, CMHCs, and RHCs in Indiana.
  2. Establish an infrastructure for training clinical staff to perform SBIRT services at clinics.
  3. Collect screening data to evaluate the impact of SBIRT.
  4. Perform cost-analyses to identify the fiscal benefits of SBIRT.
  5. Disseminate the SBIRT model throughout the state of Indiana.
  6. Sustain SBIRT services in clinics beyond the life of the SAMHSA-funded initiative.

The Indiana SBIRT team at the Indiana Prevention Resources Center (IPRC) provides training, evaluation, consultation on policy development or infrastructure design, and other technical assistance as needed. Click here to learn more about the IPRC.
